Senior Congress chief Rahul Gandhi’s workplace on Friday was vandalised after a protest march of the SFI, the coed wing of the ruling CPI(M), turned violent in Kerala’s Wayanad. Officers stated that the protest march contained round 100 College students’ Federation of India (SFI) activists and so they barged into the workplace. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the assault on Gandhi’s workplace and guaranteed stringent motion towards the culprits.
“There have been round 80-100 activists. As of now, eight of them are below custody. Extra police have been deployed,” the police have been quoted as saying by information company PTI. The protests have been organised by scholar organisations as they alleged that Gandhi did not intervene within the situation of making buffer zones round forests within the hilly areas of Kerala. Tv channels aired visuals of a bunch of protestors making a ruckus contained in the MP’s workplace.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor tweeted visuals of Gandhi’s workplace, which was seen vandalised, and requested, “Would @pinarayivijayan & @SitaramYechury take disciplinary motion or let their silence condone such behaviour? Is that this their concept of politics?”
Okay.C. Venugopal, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) common secretary, alleged that the assault was a conspiracy hatched by ruling CPI-M in Kerala.
“This occurred within the presence of Police. It is a clear conspiracy by CPM management. For the previous 5 days, ED is questioning him after that I do not know why Kerala CPM goes in the way in which of Narendra Modi to assault him. I feel Sitaram Yehcury will take obligatory motion,” he stated.
Chief of Opposition V D Satheesan sharply reacted to the incident and stated the assault confirmed lawlessness and “goondaism”.
“Ghastly assault by SFI goons at Rahul Gandhi’s MP Workplace at Wayanad. It’s lawlessness and goondaism. CPM has changed into an organised mafia. Strongly Condemning the assault,” the Congress chief tweeted.
