Japan issued evacuation requests to greater than 120,000 residents in some southern prefectures as a consequence of heavy rain on Saturday, NHK reported, simply days after lethal landslides struck the seaside metropolis of Atami southwest of Tokyo.

The Japan Meteorological Company issued its highest rain alerts in three prefectures on Kyushu island, prompting some native governments to order residents to evacuate.

Every week in the past heavy rains lashed the resort metropolis of Atami, triggering landslides which have killed at the very least 9 individuals and left 20 lacking.
